Fasting: Day 10

Luke 11: 10 (NLT) For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

God told the prophet Jeremiah, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart”. (Jeremiah 29:13) Three words (ask, seek & knock) combine to emphasize the truth that when you bring their needs to God, you can trust that you will be satisfied. All three actions are metaphors for praying. Sometimes God does not answer prayer immediately; sometimes you must keep on knocking and awaiting God’s answer. But if you continue to trust God through prayer, Jesus promised that you would receive, find and have a door opened.

Remember, it’s not just about getting a prayer answered. By being persistent and pursuing God, you are stating your complete dependence on him. Through this fast and through your persistence you are seeking Him with all your heart. God says that not only will your prayer be answered but most importantly that you will find Him. He wants to give you a greater revelation of who He is and what He wants to do with your life. He wants to fill you with His Spirit. He alone can give you the strength to face the battles ahead.

Here are four things that prayer will do for you. It will make you:
• Eager to grasp life, to seize the day.
• Ready to face challenges.
• Courageous to expand your dreams.
• Passionate to share God’s love.

When you feel worn out, prayer can energize you and motivate you to continue your fast.

Fasting Tip: Here is a very interesting article on the effects that fasting has on your body. When you get time read over it and let me know what you think. There are amazing physical benefits to fasting. Here is the link: http://www.freedomyou.com/fasting_book/Healing_through_Fasting.htm

Personal word: I am not sure about you but yesterday (Monday) was one of the toughest days of my fast. I just felt wiped out. This past weekend I worked all day Saturday cleaning the garage and putting stuff in the basement. Then, I took Zach to see “Alvin & the Chipmunks” at the movies. The smell of the popcorn was amazing! (No, I didn’t cheat for all those who are wondering, but Zachy may have been nervous with the way that I was watching him as he ate). Then we had church all day on Sunday and I felt like I was on a spiritual high. Both morning and night services were amazing! Then I think it all caught up with me today. I felt as if I had to work hard just to walk up the stairs. Josie felt wiped out as well. Man, I don’t know if anyone else felt the same way, but my warning for all those fasting food is to be careful not to overdue it. It will catch up with you. The only thing that kept me going was by putting that goal in front of me of pursuing God with everything I have. I really believe that God has a breakthrough in store for all of you fasting. Keep pursuing God and I will do the same! Let’s watch and see what he does this year as a result of our fasting.
